Until Nov. 13: Takao Tanabe: The Seasons/Les saisons is part of a series of exhibitions from the Firestone Collection of Canadian Art that explores the careers of artists collected by the Firestones. This exhibit will feature sections from a large mural created in 1966 by important Canadian artist Takao Tanabe for the Administration Building on the Agricultural Farm in Ottawa. Also on view: Decolonize Me by Barry Pottle, Bear Witness, and Cheryl L’Hirondelle investigates not only the issues surrounding decolonization and colonization, but also the resulting impacts these processes have had on Aboriginal identity. Nov. 19 to Feb. 12: Enfolded by Ghitta Caiserman features the gallery’s latest acquisitions from the Estate of Ghitta Caiserman and focuses on the artist’s interest in fabric and clothing, manifested in images of clothing, costumes, and cloth. Dec. 2 to Feb. 19: African-American Contemporary Quilts by Edna Patterson-Petty is a solo exhibition by the American artist and art therapist that engages with challenging social issues.
